This is Mixed and Mastered. Extra Credit with Faith Newman. So tell me an artist that you wanted to sign but couldn't.
Speaker 3:An artist that I wanted to sign but couldn't. Can it be anything, anything?
Speaker 1:Anything.
Speaker 3:Doesn't matter. Well, most recent one was George Benson. I wanted that catalog badly, yeah, and he was very and he's yeah, yeah, that was a tough one to miss out on. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:Okay, tell me three of your favorite top artists, of your favorite artists, and why. In any genre, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 3:Okay, tina Marie, okay.
Speaker 1:Obviously.
Speaker 3:Because I related to her as a Caucasian woman.
Speaker 1:And she was amazing.
Speaker 3:She was amazing. She was so talented and died far too young.
Speaker 1:Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3:I just have to say the Isley brothers. Nothing to do with the fact that we did a deal with them, but just the breadth of their catalog is astounding. And I want to you know, I'm trying to think of a rap version I want to say, besides Nas, because that's too obvious. But can I say, nas, you can say anything you want, all right, just think he's, he's like extraterrestrial somehow, like I don't know. You know where he came from, but, um, but he changed the face of hip hop.
Speaker 1:He absolutely did. He absolutely did. Last question Tell me three of your favorite concerts.
Speaker 3:you went to. That's easy. My number one would be Prince the Time and Vanity 6.
Speaker 1:Oh, I know, that was crazy.
Speaker 3:That was amazing. What other concerts I've been to. So many concerts I don't know where to start.
Speaker 1:You and me, you and me. I can't remember stuff sometimes.
Speaker 3:I'd say probably Wu-Tang and their first performance.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 3:I have the invitation. Still that was incredible. And then I'll go back to Tina. Still that was incredible. And then I'll go back to Tina. I saw her months before she passed in Philadelphia and she was stellar.
Speaker 1:Wow.
Speaker 3:Wow yeah.
Speaker 1:Okay, we're going to end this. Have you been able to remember one crazy story? There's so many.
Speaker 3:Just give me one I remember. Okay, we're going to end this. Have you been able to remember one crazy story? There's so many crazy stories.
Speaker 1:Just give me one.
Speaker 3:I remember this was like interesting for me from a sociological perspective. This is about probably 87 or so 88. And I was hanging out with Public Enemy and Keith and Hank, and we were somewhere in the Lower East Side and there were two cars of us. We were just parked and I don't know what. We were just hanging out and down the street there was a big pothole and these kids kept pulling a piece of cardboard over the pothole for anybody who was driving by and then they'd hit the pothole and they let like think that was really funny, you know.
Speaker 3:So all of a sudden, all these cop cars swarm us and they put all the guys up against the, the cop cars, you know, and they leave me and my two girlfriends completely alone, like we had not. You know what I mean. It was. It was a really surreal moment and they were totally trying to like rough them up a little bit, you know, and threatening to arrest them. And we, you know, you, you know like blame, you know, and threatening to arrest them, you know, like blame, you know, because they thought that we were the ones who were doing the thing with Pothole. It was not us, but it was like it could have turned really, really bad.
Speaker 1:Yeah, especially the New York cops, not that they're better, but bad.
Speaker 3:New York cops in the 80s. Oh my God, that was crazy.
Speaker 1:It was brutal, it was brutal, it was brutal. Well, thank you, faith Newman.
Speaker 3:Thank you Sledge, Appreciate you.
